Description

Scindapsus pictus (Satin Pothos) is a favourite among houseplant lovers for its cascading vines and silvery-splashed foliage. Each matte, deep green leaf is kissed with silver spots and markings that catch the light, creating a velvety, almost metallic effect.

They can be trailing from a hanging basket, climbing a moss pole, or sprawling along a bookshelf, Scindapsus pictus is versatile, graceful, and low-maintenance—making it ideal for both new plant parents and experienced collectors alike.

Care Requirements:

  • Light: Best in bright, indirect light to preserve its silvery variegation. It tolerates medium to low light but may grow slower and lose contrast.

  • Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Scindapsus dislikes soggy roots, so ensure proper drainage.

  • Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. While it adapts to average indoor levels, higher humidity can promote fuller growth and richer foliage.

  • Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 16–29°C.

  • Soil: Use a well-draining, airy potting mix. A blend of potting soil with perlite and orchid bark will help prevent root rot and keep the roots happy.

  • Feeding: Fertilize monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer.

  • Pruning: Trim back long vines to control shape or encourage bushier growth. This plant is easy to propagate via stem cuttings in water or soil.

Pet-Friendly: No – Scindapsus pictus is toxic if ingested by pets or humans.
